Strawberry Crumble Pie

Summer has made its way to Colorado. I started thinking what is a good way to usher in the Summer season...a pie! Not just any pie, a Strawberry Crumble pie. I am going to be honest, I have never made this before. How will this turn out?

I knew the basics to accomplish this pie and looked at other recipes for inspiration. I checked my pantry to see what ingredients I had. I then began to write out my grocery list. I enjoy the old school way of writing it and crossing it out.
On my list are the following:
1 1/2 lbs  Strawberries
6 tbsp cold Butter
1/4 cup Brown Sugar
1/2 cup Sugar
3/4 cups Flour
1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
1 tsp Water
Pie crust(pre-made)

Once I had all my ingredients, I need to make sure I have my utensils. A small bowl, medium bowl, measuring cup, rubber spatula. I started with making the crumble first.
You combine flour, brown sugar, cold butter in a small bowl. I put on plastic gloves to start working in the butter into the mixture. Once you have a clumpy look put the bowl in the fridge to keep cool.
I made sure to wash the strawberries off and pat dry with a cloth from Ikea. The dish towel from Ikea are my favorite kitchen essential.

I started to slice the strawberries into the medium bowl and mixed in the white sugar, brown sugar, vanilla and the water. I began to hand mix the ingredients in the bowl.  Also made sure to set the oven on 400 degrees. I dumped the wet ingredients into the pie crust and grabbed the crumble from the fridge. Sprinkled the crumble on top  of the mixed strawberries and placed in the oven. Set a timer for 15 minutes, then i turned down the heat to 350 degrees. You want the topping to be brown and the inside to juice. Keep an eye on the crust to turn brown as well.
Once done then let it cool off and enjoy the Summer Treat.
